Arts Bus

AKC has received significant funding – $150,000 over three years – to support our Arts Bus program. We aim to be on the road within the next 2 months, inspiring children and young people very soon.

In 2018 and 2019 we trialed a pilot of the Arts Bus around St Kilda at adventure playgrounds and public housing estates.  The Arts Bus offers a range of activities and guidance to children and young people who would, otherwise miss out on the creative opportunities and joy that art and the arts offers. If you feel you can support us or be of assistance please connect through the AKC Volunteer Registration page.

The Arts Bus is a mobile arts studio, theatre and music space, enabling AKC to facilitate meaningful, thoughtful and therapeutic arts activities. It brings quality arts practices to children and young people who would otherwise miss out.

Many children and young people with complex lives find it difficult to access arts activities due to financial hardship, transport issues and other responsibilities . Like a ‘mobile library’, the Arts Bus travels to children and young people, eliminating issues of access. The Arts Bus provides a quality, best practice creative service for free to children and young people experiencing hardship.

AKC would also like to thank the Palais Theatre for providing seed funding for the project in 2018 and 2019.

Your support can change a child’s life.
